Horses on Logmill Road - #2 - by Tony Karp
Horses on Logmill Road - #2

When I am working at my computer and look up, this is what I see on the wall.

These horses were photographed on one of our walks. We are surrounded by horse farms.

Some say, that in this rural area, there are more horses than people.

Wall feathers - by Tony Karp
Wall feathers

As I walk on our property, I occasionally find a feather. After a while, I started to bring them into my studio and put each one on the wall with a piece of tape. After a year or so, this still life took form. along with the feathers is an interesting twig and an instrument, hanging from a cord, that is designed to measure the weather.

This arrangement was not shaped by any specific design, it just evolved into this interesting arrangement.

Unlike Dumbo, I have a feather whenever I need one. So there's never a question whether or not I can fly.

Botero-rama! - by Tony Karp
Botero-rama!

This is an infrared panorama shot in the sculpture garden at the Nassau County Museum of Art.

I restored some of the color and worked on the tonal values to yield this other-worldly landscape.

Ghost train 475 - by Tony Karp
Ghost train 475

I found this blast from the past on a trip through the Amish country of Pennsylvania. In the town of Strasburg, there's a railroad museum and a functioning train, complete with steam engine that you can take a ride on. You can even have lunch while riding through the Pennsylvania Dutch countryside. Walking through the rail yard, I photographed the steam engine silhouetted against a water tower.

Back at my studio, looking at this picture on the computer, it seemed to lack something, so I started trying different effects. I finally settled on this version, which adds a glow that makes the engine look like something from the past projected into the present.

Concorde - by Tony Karp
Concorde

I always wanted to ride on the Concorde. New York to Paris in just a few hours. And flying home, you'd arrive at an earlier time than when you left -- sort of like a time machine.

But a combination of an horrific accident and an horrific economy have grounded this futuristic beast.

There are still a few around, now on display. This one is at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum near Dulles Airport.

A message from the trees - by Tony Karp
A message from the trees

This image is one of a series of tree panoramas. Here, the panorama is mirrored left-to-right.

This picture is meant to be displayed unframed, hanging like a Japanese scroll. To aid in this effect, I added a dark gray border around the original image.

Treescape #1 - by Tony Karp
Treescape #1

Just a vertical panorama of some woods somewhere in Connecticut.

When we lived in New York City, we would drive for two hours to see a scene like this.

Now we just go outside and walk down the road.

Print Price:  $600
